PEI-FULL RESTAURANT
Located on the second floor of the United Hotel Taipei, PEI-FULL Restaurant reinterprets Shanghainese cuisine through a contemporary design lens. The concept centers on the balance between old and new, blending modern aesthetics with a sense of refinement and cultural elegance. Through careful selection of colors and materials, the space expresses both the identity of the brand and the depth of its cultural roots.
The color palette is built around three key tones—purple, green, and orange—each playing a distinct role in shaping the atmosphere. Purple, often associated with luxury and mystery, is thoughtfully placed in the central dining areas to create a calm and elegant atmosphere. Green is introduced through plant elements and specially treated wall finishes, bringing a sense of nature and vitality into the space while subtly reflecting the restaurant’s emphasis on fresh ingredients and well-being. Orange appears in areas such as the restrooms, private dining rooms, and parts of the ceiling, adding warmth, energy, and a sense of liveliness that makes the overall experience more memorable.
Materiality is equally important in defining space. Elements such as ripple-textured wood veneer, metal, and acrylic are combined to create contrast and visual depth. The walls are finished with natural mineral coatings, offering a unique sheen and tactile quality that enhances both the visual and sensory experience.
Lighting is designed to shift throughout the day in response to different uses. During the daytime, the space feels bright and fresh, reflecting a contemporary urban vibe. In the evening, the lighting softens to create a more intimate, lounge-like dining experience. A combination of accent lighting and indirect illumination adds depth, layering, and a subtle sense of drama to the space.
The furniture brings together traditional and modern design elements. In the meeting room, an art rug by emerging artist Ingrid Lu introduces a modern artistic layer. In the main dining area, chairs with soft curves and light visual weight reflect a balance between function and aesthetics. Within the private dining rooms, the customized armchair designed by Shichieh Lu draws inspiration from Chinese Ming-style furniture, paired with purple upholstery and titanium-plated metal frames, creating a refined and elegant dining setting.
The renovation of the second floor at United Hotel brings together everyday life and artistic expression in a seamless way. More than just a Chinese restaurant, PEI-FULL offers an experience where dining, design, and Art come together—allowing each guest to find a moment of calm, enjoyment, and connection within the space.
